JOIN THE LARGEST MASS CORAL
OUTPLANT IN THE REGION!
From November 8 to December 3, 2022
Coralmania is a large-scale transplantation event of different species of corals, seeking to contribute not only to the conservation and restoration of biodiversity, but also to coastal protection.
In 2016, the initiative was launched by the Dominican Foundation for Marine Studies (Fundemar), Fundación Grupo Puntacana, Counterpart International, CEBSE and The Nature Conservancy (TNC), with support from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The transplantation has a regional impact, since it is realized in three countries at the same time: Costa Rica, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic.
During Coralmania 2021, a regional impact was achieved with the participation of 138 volunteer divers from all three participating countries. Together, they achieved the transplantation of more than 1700 coral fragments.
This and last year’s event are a tribute to the Sustainable Development Goals to improve the state of our planet.
#Coralmania2022 coincides with the "Decade of the Oceans" or the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021-2030). It aims to change humanity's relationship with the ocean and protect and restore ecosystems and biodiversity.
It also converges with the start of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030, which aims to prevent, halt, and reverse the degradation of ecosystems on all continents and in all oceans.

During transplantation you should check that the coral fragment is firm and that the gluing was performed correctly. Otherwise, sea currents may dislodge it.
