Supporting women from coastal communities near the beaches represents an invaluable opportunity to strengthen their resilience and promote sustainable entrepreneurship. Through the conservation programs managed by MAR Fund, these women can develop productive skills linked to the care of marine ecosystems, generating economic alternatives that foster equity and environmental protection. Their active participation in conservation initiatives promotes female leadership, reinforces community cohesion, and demonstrates that sustainable development can be a powerful tool to transform lives and protect the valuable natural heritage of the Mesoamerican Reef System.

In commemoration of the International Day of Rural Women, this session brings together inspiring leaders who are transforming conservation into sustainable development opportunities across the Mesoamerican Reef (MAR). Representatives from CEM, COBI, CECIMS, and Mujeres de Izabal will share how gender-focused conservation is driving leadership, innovation, and rural entrepreneurship with positive social, economic, and environmental impact. v
