Objective
¿How Could Coastal Resilience Be in Latin America?
We know that the region faces numerous environmental issues: severe droughts and floods, water scarcity, and soil erosion, extractive activities such as deforestation and mining… and the list goes on. However, the widespread effects of climate change on the coasts often do not receive the attention they deserve, not even when a 2021 report from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) revealed that sea levels are rising more rapidly in the region than in the rest of the world.
Topic to Discuss
The EJN has the mission to improve the quality and quantity of environmental reporting, and it does so by helping journalists from around the world to report on climate change, biodiversity and conservation, pollution, and other topics by awarding journalism production grants, training, and other types of support.
The EJN is also a community of more than 20,000 journalists in about 180 countries. If you are not members yet and would like to be, visit earthjournalism.net to register. By doing so, you will be the first to hear about reporting grants, scholarships, and events like this online seminar.
